Econet Media’s video streaming platform Kwesé Play is now being streamed in Botswana following a tie-up with Internet provider CENE Media.
The agreement will see CENE Media use its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) service to deliver on-demand over-the-top (OTT) entertainment from Kwesé Play.
Along with Kwesé TV content, the Roku-powered streaming service provides Netflix, NBA TV, TED and Red Bull TV. The plug and play device allows the user to either connect to the Internet using an ethernet cable or through Wi-Fi.
“CENE Media have delighted to have partnered with one of the biggest content providers in Africa to bring live news, sport, massive libraries of new TV shows and movies,” said Neo Moroka, chairman of CENE Media.
With the launch, Goabaone Kgosana, manager for Kwesé Botswana, said that the company has reaffirmed its commitment to providing premium content to African viewers across multiple platforms.
The move follows the recent acquisition by Kwesé TV of a ‘significant’ stake in the African operation of video-on-demand (VOD) service iflix, to help it deliver mobile video content across the continent.
